Radio Frequency Microneedling

Radio Frequency (RF) Microneedling is a cutting-edge skin treatment that delivers instant and long-term results.

By creating tiny microchannels in the skin, it triggers the body’s natural healing response, stimulating collagen and elastin production. This helps to plump, tighten, and smooth the skin, reducing the appearance of stretch marks, scars, fine lines, enlarged pores, and uneven texture.

At Sunday Skin UK, we use advanced RF technology that is safe for all skin types and can be performed year-round for consistent skin improvement.

How is
Radio Frequency Microneedling different from traditional microneedling?

Both treatments use collagen induction therapy (CIT) to boost skin regeneration, but Radio Frequency Microneedling takes it a step further by incorporating radiofrequency energy,

which tightens the skin and enhances results.

  • Fewer Sessions – RF Microneedling is more powerful than traditional microneedling, meaning you’ll need fewer treatments to achieve your desired results.

  • Better for Stretch Marks & Scars – This treatment can target new and old stretch marks and scars, even those under 12 months old, helping to soften, shrink, and blend them with the surrounding skin.

  • Minimal Downtime – Unlike traditional microneedling, RF Microneedling is gentler on the skin, meaning a quicker recovery and less irritation.

  • Customisable Depths – We adjust the settings based on your specific skin concerns, ensuring a targeted, personalised treatment.

  • Longer-Lasting Results – RF Microneedling doesn’t just boost collagen, it also contracts existing collagen fibres, offering tighter, firmer skin with long-term benefits.

How many sessions will I need?

During your consultation at Sunday Skin UK, we will assess your skin and recommend a treatment plan tailored to your concerns.

Typically, a course of six sessions at monthly intervals delivers the best results. Each session is around 45 minutes depending on the size of area undergoing treatment.

Does Radio Frequency Microneedling hurt?

The sensation is often described as a quick, pinch feeling, with some areas (like around the eyes and lips) being more sensitive. However, it’s quick and tolerable.

After the treatment, your skin may feel warm, flushed, or tingly, like a mild sunburn - this is a normal and expected reaction.

What advice should I follow pre and post treatment?

Before your treatment you need to avoid self-tan and direct sun exposure for 48 hours before treatment.  You should also stop using vitamin A or retinol products for 24 hours prior. As with all treatments we recommend being hydrated and well-fed before your appointment.

Aftercare is important, and consists of some do's and don'ts:

Do:

  • Gently wash the treated area with a mild cleanser for the first 48 hours

  • Apply moisturiser and repair products as recommended

  • Use SPF 30+ daily and avoid direct sun exposure for at least two weeks

  • Stay hydrated – drinking plenty of water helps the skin heal

Don’t:

  • Exfoliate the skin for a week post-treatment

  • Participate in strenuous exercise, swimming for 48 hours

  • Exposure yourself to extreme temperatures, such as saunas for 48 hours

  • Drink alcohol or use fragranced skincare for a short period, as they may cause redness

  • Use retinol or active skincare for two weeks after treatment

When will I see results, and how long do they last?

You’ll notice a plumping effect to the treated area almost immediately, but the true results develop over time. The radiofrequency heat instantly tightens some collagen fibres, while long-term improvements appear from 6 to 8 weeks post-treatment, continuing to enhance for up to a year.

How Long Do the Results Last?

  • Results last 3–6 years with proper aftercare and maintenance.

  • Collagen and elastin production continues for months post-treatment.

  •   Regular maintenance sessions can prolong and enhance results.
